About This Release

With its family of imprints now approaching 400 releases, Pangea Recordings remains one of America's most enduring homes for underground progressive house. PANGE136 — Summer Sampler 2026 gathers five of the season's strongest originals into a single statement of intent, ahead of the full remix packages that follow later in the year. Released 07 August 2026.

Leading the collection is a marquee pairing the label has been building toward: label boss DJ Samer — a torch-bearer for the American progressive sound since 1996 and a multiple-time Bedrock artist — links with Nomad in the Dark, the producer Sasha famously named his breakthrough pick in DJ Mag and a name long championed by John Digweed, Hernán Cattáneo and Nick Warren. Their opener "Adam" drew early love from Richie Hawtin, Four Candles (Bedrock), Spesh, Matt Black and Magnus Johanson.

From there the standard holds high across Hall North's melodic "Redemption," The Bass Monkey's deep, techy "No Control," a Seth Vogt remix of One Week (UK)'s "Chasing The Groove" — hailed by Ivan Nikusev as "a piece of art" — and Doug Crawford's atmospheric "Lesser Versions," a standout pick for Russell, Lonya and Peter Byles. This is underground house made for DJs, dancers, and listeners who value groove, tension and timeless club energy over trends.

About the Artists

Samer & Nomad in the Dark — "Adam"

DJ Samer is the founder of Pangea Recordings and a torch-bearer for American progressive house since 1996, with a catalogue of label work and multiple appearances on John Digweed's Bedrock. Nomad in the Dark was famously named by Sasha as his breakthrough pick in DJ Mag, and has been championed by John Digweed, Hernán Cattáneo and Nick Warren, with releases across Global Underground, Balance, Hope and Stripped. Their opener "Adam" (124 BPM, B Minor) is a floaty, moody progressive journey.

Hall North — "Redemption"

UK producer Hall North first turned heads with his deep, trippy remix of Harvey McKay's "69" on Soma, and earned IDJ's "one of the UK's hottest producers" nod. "Redemption" (126 BPM, A Major) trades in emotional tension, atmospheric depth and a driving, floor-tuned bassline.

The Bass Monkey — "No Control"

The Bass Monkey is a Pangea regular known for deep, techy house with hypnotic atmosphere and patient groove. "No Control" (124 BPM, F Minor) is a peak-time roller built for the deep end of the night — picked up by Tim French, Paco Osuna, Andi Durrant and Rob Zile.

One Week (UK) & Seth Vogt — "Chasing The Groove"

One Week (UK) draws on a youth spent on '90s rave and classic trance — music that carries the memory of those visceral highs and wide-eyed drives home under starry skies. Here "Chasing The Groove" is reshaped by Seth Vogt, a classically trained musician and recording engineer producing since the mid-90s, into a warm, groove-first cut (122 BPM, G Minor) that Ivan Nikusev called "a piece of art."

Doug Crawford — "Lesser Versions"

Doug Crawford is a classically trained producer who came up through Washington D.C.'s Buzz / Nation era, threading dark, tribal percussion through harmonic, atmospheric melody. "Lesser Versions" (124 BPM, D Minor) closes the sampler and was a standout pick for Russell, Lonya and Peter Byles.
